AURANGABAD: After reviewing City and Industrial Development Corporation's (Cidco) functioning at local offices, its managing director (MD) Sanjay Bhatia said that corruption was hampering the growth of the corporation and its projects in the city.
Addressing the staff members here on Friday, he said corruption at any level would not be tolerated and strictly warned them against indulging in malpractices. "Quit corruption or I will put you behind bars," he said. Blaming builders and developers, Bhatia said , "Corruption is not a one-sided affair. There has to be other beneficiaries." He said that corruption has distorted Cidco's image and people have lost faith in its functioning. "Around 15-20 years back, Cidco used to be the best in its field. People would relay on its projects. However, over a period of time, corruption has now diluted its brand value," he said. During his two-day visit to the city, Bhatia said he met citizens who complained about delay in getting their work done in local Cidco offices. More than 35% of the total houses in the city are developed by Cidco, while four towns are at the development stage. Hence, large number of people visits Cidco offices for land and property related issues. Many of them alleged that they have to follow tedious process during sale and purchase of properties in Cidco area. In many cases, they have to seek permissions from Aurangabad Municipal Corporation ( AMC) and Cidco.
"I am aware of some technicalities that are troubling the residents. However, we will try to simplify the operations in our board meeting to be held on May 17," he said, adding that he had met municipal commissioner Harshdeep Kamble and asked him to streamline the interconnected issues.
On giving a facelift to the corporation, Bhatia said that he would pump fresh blood into the organization and help regain its reputation.
