In Bangalore to chat about Ek Thi Dayaan, even as she makes some time to visit her aunt here, actress Huma Qureshi seems has turned out to be one of the biggest finds of the film industry last year, after her debut with Gangs of Wasseypur.
"It's a dream come true. I have got to work with good directors who have seen merit in me. I try not to over-analyze the response I have got. I have nothing to lose in the industry and I am enjoying the ride," says Huma, the Delhi girl who considers herself an outsider in Bollywood.
"Though, the advantage of having a credible release is that it is a lot easier to meet people now than it used to be. So that's a good thing," says Huma.
However, like most success stories, Huma's also seems to have its share of controversies. Reports of her link-up with her mentor, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, did set her back initially.
"Anurag is my mentor and a friend, he was the one who gave me my first break. To read such reports was like a slap across my face. It looks like I got my break because of my friendship with him and not because of my talent. But I have learnt to deal with it and even laugh it off. I have known both Anurag and his wife Kalki (Koechlin) for a long time, and we don't let such things ruin our relationship," she explains.
